Chapter 3

“…This is only for this once. If you pull another stunt without my permission, I won’t let it slide—even if it’s you, Uncle.”

“Alright, do as you say.”

Fryman chuckled at her cute little threat.

“Oh, and one more thing. When you register for classes, make sure to take theology. Choose ‘Moon Temple’ as your affiliation.”

“Why’s that?”

“Since you’re entering through my recommendation, you naturally have to be affiliated with the Moon Temple. I’ve already informed the academy, but I’ll remind them again.”

Classes… already? Selina felt a deep sigh escape her lips. It had been over eleven years since she had last studied anything seriously.

After finishing the meal, there was no time even for a brief tea break—Fryman had to leave again.

“You’re busy and have to go already. I wanted to help with your enrollment preparations, but there’s no time…”

“I can manage on my own. The admission form has all the details. I can handle the preparations.”

“Still… ah! I should ask Baon for help.”

“…No, it’s fine.”

At the thought, a mental image of Baon appeared: dark circles under his eyes, utterly exhausted, and utterly unhelpful. Just imagining taking him shopping was horrifying.

Shivering slightly, Selina nudged Fryman, who lingered without moving.

“You said you’re busy. Go on already.”

“I’ll come by again before enrollment! You must take care of yourself until then, alright?”

Even as he descended the stairs, he waved, reluctant to leave Selina’s side.

Once she saw him leave, she stepped back inside the house.

The warmth that had filled the space because of him slowly faded.

But it was a familiar feeling, so she tidied the table as if nothing had changed.

After finishing the dishes, she picked up the fallen admission form. Seeing her name written boldly on it, a sigh escaped her lips.

“Ha… what am I supposed to do with this.”

She trudged over and collapsed onto the old sofa in front of the fireplace.

“Meow~”

Luna leapt onto the sofa with a playful mew, nudging the admission form from Selina’s hand with her tiny black paw.

Staring at the cat, Selina’s eyes went cold.

“Was this your doing?”

“Meow~”

Luna tilted her head and slowly blinked her large yellow eyes.

“Enough with the animal act. What are you doing in that cute little cat body?”

“Meow~ I’m a cute cat! Isn’t it obvious?”

A melodious voice flowed from somewhere, even though no one else was around.

The voice belonged to the black cat, Luna.

To an outsider, the scene would have been utterly absurd, but Selina regarded Luna as if it were perfectly natural that she was speaking.

“So, a god is occupying a mere beast’s body. What a waste of talent.”

“What’s wrong with being a cat? Cats are the best! And you like cats, don’t you?”

Her eyebrows twitched. Indeed, Selina loved animals, especially cats.

Luna knew this and exploited it, living in the cat’s body to keep Selina under her influence.

Despite the cute exterior, the being inside was far from adorable.

“Stop dodging. Speak properly. Did you do this?”

“I don’t know what you mean~”

“You orchestrated the whole thing to tie me into the ‘original story,’ didn’t you? Lunius.”

Lunius.

The name had come up when Fryman prayed before their meal.

Lunius, the Moon God, had possessed Luna’s body.

Seeing Selina’s piercing violet eyes, Lunius smiled gently.

“If you had listened carefully, none of this would have happened.”

“I told you clearly! I won’t sacrifice myself for your amusement, nor get involved in bothersome affairs.”

“Think again. You have the chance to become the protagonist of a novel!”

Even in her chilly tone, Lunius didn’t back down. He stepped forward brazenly, shameless in his audacity.

Not once had this ‘god’ ever been reasonable.

Knowing it would be useless to argue, Selina shook her head.

The “original story.”

Ever since she had gained the ability to communicate with gods, she had heard the term countless times.

This world, the one she lived in, was part of a novel. Selina remembered her previous life.

She hadn’t remembered it from birth.

The memories returned when she was five, after being struck on the head and unconscious for three days.

Through a deep dream, she recalled her past life.

She had been Cha Soyul, a 24-year-old woman just starting her career.

Her mundane life ended abruptly due to an accident. The memory of it was faint, except for the sudden glare of a car’s headlights.

Anyway, since she remembered her past life at five, she had the intellect of an adult in a child’s body.

Whether due to recalling her past life or from the head injury, Selina’s memories were scattered.

At first, it hindered her daily life, but over time she gradually regained her full memory.

Thus, Cha Soyul began her second life in Selina’s body.

It wasn’t a bad life. Mischievous at times, but blessed with a kind mother, Stella, and a family-like figure in Fryman. Other people in her life also cared for her.

Even the ridiculous rumors surrounding Stella and herself could not destroy her happiness.

But life is rarely without complications, and Selina had one recurring difficulty:

She lived in the world of a novel from her past life, and some being constantly tried to involve her in it.

That being was Lunius.

Lunius was the Moon God—a being no mere human could ever face.

Yet he had appeared as soon as Selina recalled her past life.

[Oh-ho! You are truly an extraordinary creature!]

“Uh? Who’s there?”

[Hahaha! What luck, someone from another world has arrived here!]

Back then, during the confusion of remembering her past life, Lunius had spoken directly to her mind.

He was inexplicably excited, delighted by her existence.

[This is an opportunity!]

Startled by the voice in her head, Selina screamed.

Shocked, Stella and Fryman tried to calm her, but she remained agitated.

“Selina. It’s alright now. Nothing will happen.”

“I… I can hear a voice! A strange voice!”

“Was the head injury too severe?”

“That guy… I shouldn’t have let him get away…!”

Scared and trembling, Selina could not calm down, and Fryman eventually had to use divine power to subdue her.

Soon after waking, she fell asleep again and in her dreams met Lunius.

Seeing Selina tense, Lunius leapt with joy and rambled about himself.

[Ahem, hmm! I got excited.]

“Who… who are you… speaking into my head…?”

[I am Lunius! Humans call me the Moon God.]

“Moon God?”

Frozen in shock, she recalled his identity.

Fryman served at the Moon Temple, and the god he worshiped was Lunius, the Moon God.

To see him in person was astonishing.

Oblivious to her thoughts, Lunius continued to smile.

Androgynous, with long silver hair that glowed like moonlight, and indigo eyes like the night sky sparkling like a galaxy.

[Sorry for startling you. I got excited with happiness.]

Hearing the gentle voice of a god, Selina relaxed her sharp stance.

“God… Moon God? Uncle is a priest at the Moon Temple…”

[You mean that child beside you? She is a very devoted priest. Nowadays, it’s rare to find someone as sincere.]

Though his tone was gentle, he referred to Fryman.

“Then why are you speaking to me?”

By remembering her past life, the memories of Selina and Cha Soyul merged.

Confused about her age and identity, she sometimes spoke like a child, other times like an adult.

Despite this duality, the god didn’t care, smiling as if delighted.

[It’s because you have memories from another world.]

“Another… world? You mean Earth?”

[Earth, yes. That seems to be its name.]

The god tilted his head and laughed, leaning in with a bright smile.

[Anyway, something troublesome came up, and thanks to you, I have a new breakthrough! Thank you!]

“…I see.”

Suddenly receiving thanks, Selina responded reluctantly.

[I like you. You can surely change the flow of the story.]

“Story?”

[Yes. This world is independent, but on your Earth, it is known as a novel.]

“A novel…? You mean this world is from a novel?”

[Exactly! Humans say so! This world includes the story of ‘I Will Become a Saint!’]

It took her a beat to process, then Selina’s jaw dropped in shock. The god laughed cheerfully at her expression.

The god explained further. This world wasn’t exactly a novel, but an independent world.

Someone had written about the people living here, and that story was published on Earth as a novel.

[In other words, the novel exists within this world.]

‘Sounds like a web novel.’

A common trope: die, reincarnate, and end up in a novel.

Having read many novels as Cha Soyul, she recognized it as a cliché—but she never expected it to happen to her.

Yet there was one difference from the clichés she’d read:

She had never read I Will Become a Saint! before.
